About Us
From a century-old home to Kardamena’s go-to all day bar.
Skala is more than a bar. It’s part of the story of Kardamena. Originally built in the early 1900s, the building began its life as a family home—stone by stone, rooted in local tradition. In 1982, the Haritos family transformed it into a restaurant, and a few years later, the iconic rooftop opened, quickly becoming a favorite for both locals and travelers.
Fast forward to 2016, the Chrysopoulos family brought Skala back to life. With deep respect for the original structure and a fresh take on all-day hospitality, they restored the building’s charm and added a new energy to the heart of the village.
Today, Skala is an all-day destination where stories are shared over brunch, signature cocktails, and sea views. Whether you’re starting your morning with coffee under the palms, enjoying a lazy lunch with local meze, or sipping G&Ts on the rooftop as the sun sets, Skala blends tradition with a modern Mediterranean vibe.
Our menu is crafted with love, offering seasonal plates, vegetarian and vegan options, and a brunch experience that has become a favorite across Kos. At night, the lights dim, the cocktails flow, and the rooftop transforms into a laid-back social spot with just the right energy.
In 2017, we expanded the experience next door with Thomas by Skala, where the focus is on grilled plates and shared dishes, all under one inviting roof.
At Skala, we believe in warmth, simplicity, and making every visit feel like home—whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.
Welcome to Skala. Let’s make memories.
